# Activating a promo code

Yandex regularly runs marketing campaigns with [promo codes](../concepts/promo-code.md) offered to users. To use a promo code, you need to activate it in Yandex Cloud Billing or in the management console.

This action is available to users with the `billing.accounts.editor` [role](../security/index.md#billing-accounts-editor) or higher for the billing account.

To access the management console, you need the `resource-manager.clouds.member` [role](../../resource-manager/security/index.md#resource-manager-clouds-member) or higher for the relevant [cloud](../../resource-manager/operations/cloud/set-access-bindings.md).

To activate:

- Yandex Cloud Billing interface {#billing}

  1. Navigate to [**Yandex Cloud Billing**](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts).
  1. Select an account on the **Billing accounts** page.
  1. In the left-hand panel, select ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/flag.svg) **Account** and click **Activate promo code**. The button only appears when a promo code becomes available.
  1. Enter your promo code and click **Activate**.

  All information about the promo code will be available in [Yandex Cloud Billing](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts) under **Grants**.

- Management console {#console}

    1. Open the [management console](https://console.yandex.cloud).
    1. In the top-right corner, click ![credit-card](../../_assets/console-icons/credit-card.svg).
    1. In the widget that opens, click **Activate promo code**.
    1. Enter your promo code and click **Activate**.

    The widget will display information about the added promo code.

    To change the visibility of private data, use the ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/eye-slash.svg) and ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/eye.svg) buttons.
