# Enabling origin shielding

The shielding servers are located in different geographical locations:

| Provider | Location ID | Location name
| --- | --- | --- |
| Yandex Cloud CDN | 1 | Russia / Moscow / msk |

To enable [origin shielding](../../concepts/origins-shielding.md) for a [resource](../../concepts/resource.md):

{% list tabs group=instructions %}

- Management console {#console}

  1. In the [management console](https://console.yandex.cloud), select the folder where your resource is located.
  1. Navigate to **Cloud CDN**.
  1. Click the resource name.
  1. Navigate to the **Origin shielding** tab.
  1. In the top-right corner, enable the origin shielding option.
  1. In the **Shielding settings** window, select the required location in the **Location** field.
  1. Click **Activate**.

  Once enabled, the shielding status will change from `Not activated` to `Active`.

{% endlist %}

It may take up to 15 minutes for the new settings of the existing resource to apply to the CDN servers. After that, we recommend [purging the resource cache](purge-cache.md).
