# Account top-up and spending control

Follow this tutorial to set up payments for your organization's resources.

## Activate the paid version {#pay-activate}

1. In [Yandex Cloud Billing](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts) on the **Billing accounts** page, select the billing account.
1. On the ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/flag.svg) **Account** page, click **Switch to the paid version**.
1. Confirm the action by clicking **Switch to the paid version** again.

Upon activation of the paid version, your [personal account balance](../../billing/concepts/personal-account.md#balance) will be zero by default. We recommend that you keep track and [maintain a positive balance](../../billing/operations/pay-the-bill.md) at all times.

{% note warning %}

If you fail to top up your account on time and run into arrears, your use of Yandex Cloud services may be suspended. For more information, see [Billing cycle](../../billing/payment/billing-cycle-business.md).

{% endnote %}

You can monitor your balance in [**Yandex Cloud Billing**](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts):
- Your balance automatically decreases as you consume resources. You can view your usage history on the [usage details](../../billing/operations/check-charges.md) page.
- Your balance increases when you top up your account. The top-up record is logged to the [payment history](../../billing/operations/check-bill-history.md).

## Top up your personal account {#pay-personal-account}

To top up your personal account:
1. In [Yandex Cloud Billing](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts) on the **Billing accounts** page, select the billing account.
1. Click **Top up account**.
1. Select a payment method:

  {% list tabs group=payments %}

  - Credit or debit card {#card}

    Enter the payment amount and click **Top up account**. Then enter your card details and click **Pay**.

    We accept Mir, Visa, and MasterCard.

    * Residents of Russia make payments in RUB and can only use bank cards issued by Russian banks. Customers with tax residency in the Republic of Belarus pay for Yandex Cloud services in RUB with their Belcard cards issued in the Republic of Belarus or Mir cards issued in the Russian Federation.
    * Residents of Kazakhstan make payments in KZT and can only use bank cards issued by non-Russian banks.
    * Non-residents of Russia and Kazakhstan make payments in USD and can only use credit or debit cards issued by non-Russian banks.

    Your payment will be processed in real time and completed within 15 minutes.

  - Wire transfer {#transfer}

    Enter the payment amount and click **Issue receipt**.

    The system will generate a payment invoice. Print the invoice and use it to make a payment in a bank or using a banking client system.

    Before paying, please make sure the following is correct in your payment order:
    * Payment amount.
    * Banking details of Yandex.Cloud LLC (Russia), Cloud Services Kazakhstan LLP (Kazakhstan), Iron Hive doo Beograd (Serbia), or Direct Cursus Technology L.L.C. (Dubai) (for non-residents of Russia and Kazakhstan).

      {% note info %}

      Non-residents of Russia and Kazakhstan must specify bank account details of the legal entity with whom the [agreement](../../billing/concepts/contract.md) was concluded on [billing account creation](../../billing/operations/create-new-account.md).

      {% endnote %}

    * Your company or individual entrepreneur TIN.
    * [Account number](../../billing/concepts/personal-account.md#id) in the payment purpose.
    * [Agreement number](../../billing/concepts/contract.md) in the payment purpose.

    How fast the funds will be credited to your personal account depends on the bank performing the transaction.

    {% note info %}

    The invoice must be paid from a bank account opened for the business or individual entrepreneur the billing account was registered for. Within a single user account, all payers must pay in the same currency.

    {% endnote %}

   {% endlist %}

## Use budgets for spending control {#use-budgets}

A _budget_ is a way to control how much you spend on resources in Yandex Cloud.

You use a budget to configure who will get notifications and for which threshold. You can set multiple thresholds and define different notification recipients for each one. You can learn more about budgets [here](../../billing/concepts/budget.md).

{% note info %}

Reaching a pre-set threshold does not affect subsequent resource utilization.

{% endnote %}

To control your spending in Yandex Cloud, [create a budget](#create-budget) and set up notifications for it.

You can use the following budgets in Yandex Cloud Billing:

* _Cost_: Notification is sent when the cost of resources, without discounts applied, exceeds a specified usage limit.
* _Due and payable_: Notification is sent when the cost of resources, with discounts and active promo codes applied, exceeds a specified usage limit.
* _Balance_: Notification is sent when the personal account balance falls below a specified threshold.

### Create a budget {#create-budget}

1. In [Yandex Cloud Billing](https://center.yandex.cloud/billing/accounts) under **Billing accounts**, select a billing account.
1. Go to the **Budgets** page and click **Create budget**.

   1. Enter the budget name.
   1. Select **Budget type**.
   1. Set **Budget amount**:

      * For the **Cost** or **Due and payable** type, specify the total usage cost.
      * For the **Balance** type, specify the account balance.

   1. For the **Cost** and **Due and payable** types:
      * Select your budget calculation period: **Monthly**, **Quarterly**, **Annually**, or **Custom**.
      * If you select **Custom**, set the budget start date. The start date is the first day of the month.
      * Set the budget end date. The end date defines when the budget stops tracking usage or the account balance and sending notifications. The end date is the last day of the month. It must be within five years of the current date.
   1. For the **Balance** type, set the budget end date. The end date defines when the budget stops tracking usage or the account balance and sending notifications. The end date is the last day of the month. It must be within five years of the current date.
   1. Select the users to notify.
   1. For the **Cost** and **Due and payable** types, define the budget scope. You can select individual clouds, folders, and services to include in a set budget. By default, data is collected from all the clouds, folders, and services that the selected billing account has access to.
   1. Set at least one utilization threshold to trigger notifications. You can specify a threshold as a percentage or a cash value and select the users to receive notifications. A budget can have multiple thresholds.

   {% note info %}

   Users listed in the **General information** section will receive notifications when each specified threshold is exceeded. Users listed when setting a threshold will only receive a notification when that specific threshold is reached.

   If several budget thresholds are reached at the same time, users will receive a single notification.

   {% endnote %}

1. After filling in all the fields, click **Create**. This will create a budget.

{% note tip %}

You can create a trigger that will invoke a [function](../../functions/concepts/function.md) in Cloud Functions or run a [container](../../serverless-containers/concepts/container.md) in Serverless Containers when threshold values are exceeded. Read more about [triggers for budgets](../../functions/operations/trigger/budget-trigger-create.md).

{% endnote %}

## Monitor your payment history {#control-pay}

You can view the full history of payments to your [personal account](../../billing/concepts/personal-account.md#balance) on the **Payment history** page or in Yandex Balance. The tracking method depends on your legal status ([billing account type](../../billing/concepts/billing-account.md#ba-types)).

Businesses and individual entrepreneurs can track their full payment history in Yandex Balance on the [Invoices](https://balance.yandex.ru/invoices.xml) page.
