# Creating an alert

To view [alerts](../../concepts/alerting/alert.md), you need the `viewer` role or higher for the relevant cloud.

1. On the [Monium](https://monium.yandex.cloud) home page, select **Alerts** on the left.
1. At the top right, click **Create alert** → **Custom**.
1. Specify the main alert parameters:

    * **Name**: Name the alert.
    * **ID**: Set a unique alert ID.
    * **Type**: Select the alert type.
    * **Description**: Describe the purpose of the alert.

1. Describe [queries](../../concepts/alerting/alert.md#queries).
1. Configure the alert [trigger conditions](../../concepts/alerting/alert.md#condition):

    * **Query to check**.
    * **Aggregation function**.
    * **Comparison function**.
    * **Warning** and **Alarm** trigger thresholds.
    * **Evaluation window**.
    * **Evaluation delay**.

1. Configure [data decimation](../../concepts/decimation.md).
1. To create [multialerts](../../concepts/alerting/alert.md#multi-alerts), add labels under **Deсomposition by labels**.
1. Set the [no data policies](../../concepts/alerting/alert.md#no-data-policy) or leave the default values.
1. Specify the alert [annotations](../../concepts/alerting/annotation.md).

1. To sort alerts and search for alerts, add labels in `key=value` format.
   
     You can add multiple labels. Do it by clicking `Enter` after you enter a `key=value` pair. To use labels in another alert or the search bar, click **Copy all labels**.

1. Configure [notifications](../../concepts/alerting/notification-channel.md). If you do not have a notification channel, [create one](create-channel.md).
1. Click **Create**. The alert will appear in the list.

To monitor the alert's status, add its [widget to the dashboard](../dashboard/add-widget.md).
