# Copying a dashboard

You can only copy dashboards that you create.

To copy an existing dashboard:

1. Select **Dashboards** in the left pane of the window.
1. Click ![image](../../../_assets/console-icons/ellipsis.svg) next to the dashboard and select **Copy**.
1. Enter a name for the new dashboard and click:
    * **Copy** to add a copy of the dashboard to the list.
    * **Copy and edit** to open the page of the new dashboard.
    
This new dashboard is an independent copy of the original. The changes you make to one dashboard will not affect the other.
